COVID-19 licensing advice
Taxi and private hire vehicles are advised by the Department of Transport that they can continue to work, but only where necessary given the current government instruction to stay at home.
People should stay at home where possible and avoid travel unless it is absolutely essential as set out in the recent government guidance.
Taxi and private hire drivers are not generally considered as critical workers. Those vehicles which are being used for home to school transport or are transporting extremely vulnerable people may be considered critical workers on a case by case basis. Always follow the health guidance as far as it is practically possible, including washing your hands more often than usual, for 20 seconds each time with soap and water or hand sanitiser.
