Richmondshire Dementia Action Alliance Group organise - Memory walk in Catterick

People in Richmondshire called upon to unite against dementia by supporting a memory walk recently.

The Richmondshire Dementia Action Alliance Memory Walk took place at Coronation Park in Catterick Garrison on Sunday 23rd September to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

“We asked for help by people signing up to take part in the walk and gathering their own sponsorship funding,” said Councillor Yvonne Peacock, Richmondshire District Council Leader.

“We are hoping to not only raise valuable funds for the Alzheimer’s Society but also to raise awareness around dementia within our local communities. Dementia is set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer. We are calling on everyone to unite against it.”

Side by Side

Side by Side is an Alzheimer's Society project that matches people who have dementia with volunteers, based on shared interests. Once pairs have been matched they can spend time doing the things they have always loved or trying out brand new things. Pairs meet regularly at a time that suits them both.

Side by Side is open to anyone who has a diagnosis of dementia and would like to be more connected to their communities.  Side by Side pairs you with a volunteer who can come with you to clubs or events

Could you help someone with dementia do the things they love? Volunteer for the Side by Side service and share your passion with someone with dementia in Hambleton and Richmondshire.  Get in touch today to find out more by emailing fiona.baker@alzheimers.org.uk or calling 07826 867835
