How much grant will I receive?

The maximum grant that can be awarded is £30,000. The amount you receive depends on the cost of the work as recommended by an occupational therapist and whether you can afford to contribute towards it. This is decided by a means test which looks at your income and savings. If you can afford to make a contribution, the amount of grant will be reduced by the amount of your contribution.

If you, or your spouse or partner, are in receipt of certain income related benefits, you won't normally have to pay towards the cost of the work.

There is no means test if the application is for a disabled child or a young person under 19 who is still in full time education.

If the work costs less than £5,000 there is no means test regardless of your financial situation.

In some cases, there may be other sources of financial help available to help you pay your contribution. Our home improvement agency team will be able to advise you on the options available. We can guide you through the application process, which includes getting quotations for the work, helping you provide and complete the necessary paperwork and overseeing the work through to completion.
