Right to buy scheme
The Right to Buy is a Government-run scheme. It allows some tenants to buy the home they rent from the council at a lower price than the full market value.
In Richmondshire, you may be eligible for a discount of up to £82,800.
Buying your home can give you more freedom but you also become responsible for all the costs of maintaining your home, including repairs and improvements.
If you become a leaseholder by buying your flat or leasehold house, you will have to pay service charges each year and may also have to pay for major repairs and refurbishment.
For more information, read the Government's Right to Buy booklet.
If you decide you'd like to apply to buy your home, contact us and we can arrange for the forms to be sent to you.
