Salary: Grade 5, £19,650 - £20,043 (SCP 15-17) per annum pro rata
Contract type: Permanent
Working pattern: Part time
Hours:12
Job Reference: SUPP HOUS 15-22
Role
A Relief Warden is required to provide cover for the Resident Wardens’ days off. We are looking to recruit someone who is self-motivated and with a genuine interest in working with older people. They must be able to relate to the needs of our residents living in our sheltered schemes at Thornborough Hall Gardens in Leyburn, St. Cuthbert's Green in Barton, and St. Edmund's Close at Brompton-on-Swale.
You must be able to work on your own, using your initiative to resolve problems and issues as they arise. You will need to be flexible in your approach to work.
The regular hours are 12 hours, three mornings per week (which currently is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). However, the Relief Warden will be expected to cover any absences and act as the warden when the warden is on holiday or absent. This could mean providing cover seven mornings a week during periods of absence. There will be additional support available due to covering three schemes.
The duties involve contacting our residents to ensure their wellbeing, arranging for further help if needed, contacting other agencies, doctors, etc., as necessary. This is in addition to basic checks of the building.
For an informal discussion regarding this position, please contact Sophie Johnson, Support and Improvement Team Leader, on 01748 901147, or John Turnbull, Support and Improvement Manager, on 01748 901148.
