Criteria Essential Desirable


1. Either: minimum of 4 GCSE passes, grades A-C, or equivalent; or NVQ2 in Housing or related field. (A)

a. Experience with a local council or housing association. (A)


2. Experience of working within a support related service. (A, I)

3. Experience of developing support plans. (A, I)

4. Experience working with a variety of service users with multiple needs/issues, including housing instability. (A, I)

5. Experience of inter-agency or partnership working. (A, I)

b. Experience of monitoring rent and service change payments. (A)

c. An understanding of homelessness issues. (A)

d. Experience and knowledge of residential support and outreach support. (A)


6. A detailed knowledge and understanding of support housing, including a knowledge of the tools and approaches used within a supported housing setting. (A, I)

7. Knowledge of relevant associated partner organisations that link to supported accommodation for homeless people. (A, I)

e. Knowledge of housing allocation processes. (A)

Personal aptitudes and skills

8. Good administration and IT skills. (A, I)

9. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain policies, procedures and legislation clearly to others. (A, I)

10. Ability to listen and be sympathetic, often in stressful situations. (A, I)



11. Ability to use initiative and work with a minimum of supervision and also as part of a team. (A, I)

12. Ability to respect and keep confidential information. (A, I)

13. Flexible approach to work tasks and customer requirements. (A, I)

14. Confident with handling a variety of support needs. (A, I)
