Our statement of accounts
All councils have to publish a statement of accounts. They show how we've used public money and that we've been honest and responsible.
We welcome your feedback on whether the information is clear, informative and useful.
Draft statement for 2020-21
External audit delay
The external audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2021 has not yet been completed by our external auditors, EY LLP. This is due to the ongoing impact that the Coronavirus pandemic has had on auditors of accounts to complete their work as quickly as would normally be expected. This situation is allowed for by Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015.
This notification explains in paragraph (2a), that we are not yet able to publish our audited 2020/21 final statement of accounts in line with the deadline of 30 September 2021, as per paragraph (1). The Audit, Governance and Standards Committee is expected to consider the results of the 2020/21 audit at its meeting in November (date to be confirmed). Following this meeting we will publish the final audited accounts.
The Audit, Governance and Standards Committee meeting dates can be found on the Modern Gov website.
