Is my business eligible for a Restart Grant?

This page provides a list of those businesses that are eligible for the Restart Grant and how much grant you are entitled to based on the rateable value of your premises.


Non-essential retail

Non-essential retail businesses will be eligible for a one off grant of between £2,667 and £6,000 depending on the rateable value of your premises.

This category includes the following types of businesses:

  • animal groomers
  • antiques stores, auction rooms
  • betting offices
  • book shops
  • car auctions, car showrooms, car supermarkets, car washes (stand alone), car or caravan sales - display or hiring sites
  • carpet stores, furniture shops, sofa shops
  • charity shops
  • clothes shops, departmental stores, electronic goods and mobile phone shops, make up shops
  • florists and plant nurseries
  • gift shops, homeware shops, stationery shops
  • jewellers
  • markets (other than livestock)
  • photography studios
  • sales kiosks, sales offices, showrooms such as for kitchens, bathrooms, tiles and glazing
  • sweet shops
  • tobacco and vape stores
  • travel agents

Hospitality

Hospitality businesses will be eligible for a one off grant of between £8,000 and £18,000 depending on the rateable value of your premises.

This category includes the following types of businesses:

  • cafes and food courts
  • public houses and pub restaurants
  • restaurants and roadside restaurants
  • wine bars

Personal care

Personal businesses will be eligible for a one off grant of between £8,000 and £18,000 depending on the rateable value of your premises.

This category includes the following types of businesses:

  • barbers and groomers
  • beauticians and aesthetics, beauty salons, nail salons, tanning salons
  • hairdressing salons
  • holistic therapy (reflexology, massage, acupuncture)
  • massage centres and massage treatments
  • other non-surgical treatment providers
  • spas, saunas and steam rooms
  • tattoo and piercing studios

Leisure

Leisure businesses will be eligible for a one off grant of between £8,000 and £18,000 depending on the rateable value of your premises.

This category includes the following types of businesses:

  • amusement arcades including adult gaming centres, amusement parks, go kart rinks
  • animal attractions at farms, aquariums
  • arenas, concert halls, conference centres, event venues, exhibition centres including for use as banquet halls
  • bingo halls, bowling alleys, casinos and gambling clubs
  • botanical gardens
  • cinemas, concert halls,
  • circus clubs and institutions
  • heritage railways, miniature railways
  • hostess bars
  • indoor riding centres
  • museums and art galleries, theatres
  • nightclubs and discotheques
  • pavilions and public halls
  • soft play centres or areas
  • stately homes and historic houses
  • tourist attractions
  • village halls, scout huts and cadet huts
  • wedding venues
  • wildlife centres and zoos

Accommodation

Accommodation businesses will be eligible for a one off grant of between £8,000 and £18,000 depending on the rateable value of your premises.

This category includes the following types of businesses:

  • bed and breakfasts, catered holiday homes, country house hotels, guest and boarding houses, holiday homes, apartments or cottages
  • boarding houses, hostels
  • campsites
  • canal boats or other vessels
  • caravan parks, caravan sites and pitches, chalet parks
  • hotels
  • lodges

Gym and sport

These types of businesses will be eligible for a one off grant of between £8,000 and £18,000 depending on the rateable value of your premises.

This category includes the following types of businesses:

  • Cricket centres
  • Dance schools and centres, dance studios
  • Driving ranges and golf courses
  • Gyms and fitness suites
  • Outdoor adventure centre and outdoor sports centres
  • Shooting and archery venues
  • Sports and leisure centres, sports courts, squash courts, swimming pools, tennis centres
  • Water sport centres
