Closed Business Lockdown Payment

Businesses that are eligible for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum as they have been required by law to close due to national lockdown restrictions, are also eligible for a one off Closed Business Lockdown Payment to cover the period of 5 January to 15 February 2021.

Businesses that have been required to close by the Government include:

  • non-essential retail
  • leisure
  • personal care
  • sports facilities
  • hospitality businesses

Businesses that can continue to trade because they do not rely on providing services in person from their premises and can operate their services effectively remotely (e.g. accountants, solicitors), will not be eligible for this grant. 

Those businesses that have chosen to close but have not been required to by law, will not be eligible for this grant.


Payments

Grants will only be paid to business properties that have a rateable value before 5 January 2021.

The value of the one off payment will depend on the rateable value of the property:

  • rateable value of £15,000 or less on 5 January 2021 will receive a one off payment of £4,000
  • rateable value over £15,000 but less than £51,000 on 5 January 2021 will receive a one off payment £6,000 
  • rateable value of £51,000 or more on 5 January 2021 will receive a one off payment of £9,000

Apply for grant

Businesses can apply for this grant along with the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum. To receive both these grants you only need to complete the online form once on the Apply for Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum page

Applications close on 31 March 2021.
