What support is available for my business during local and national restrictions?

There have been numerous Government support schemes with various eligibility and funding periods. The table featured on this page provides an overview of the schemes that have been running since the start of the second national lockdown in November 2020, and helps you understand which grant(s) you are eligible to apply for.

April 2021

Grant name Who can apply Dates applicable Grant details
Restart Grant Those business rates payers forced to close during the national lockdown:
non-essential retail, accommodation, hospitality, leisure, personal care, gym or sport business.
1 April 2021 - 30 June 2021

A one off grant between £2,667-£6,000 for non-essential retail businesses.

Hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care, gym or sport businesses will receive a grant of between £8,000-£18,000.

Apply for Restart Grant.

Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) Those businesses forced to close or severely affected by the national Covid-19 restrictions from 1 April and are not covered by the Restart Grant. 1 April onwards

Amount of grant payment will depend on size of business and date able to come back into operation.

January 2021 national lockdown

(CBLP)
All business rate payers required to close. 5 Jan 2021 - 15 Feb 2021

This grant is now closed.
Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG)

Those businesses required to close who do not have rateable premises (therefore not covered by the LRSG (Closed) Addendum and the CBLP). Also others not forced to close but significantly financially impacted.  16 Feb 2021 - 31 Mar 2021

Tier 3 and Tier 2 restrictions in 2020

Christmas Support Payment for 
wet-led pubs
Pubs predominately serving alcohol rather than food. 2 Dec - 29 Dec 2020

This grant is now closed.
LRSG (Closed) Those pubs, bars, and any business selling alcohol not operating as a restaurant, that had to close due to Tier 2 restrictions.

2 Dec - 30 Dec 2020

Applications closed: 31 March 2021

This grant is now closed.
LRSG (Sector) Nightclubs, dance halls and discotheques, adult entertainment venues and hostess bars that have been closed since 23 March 2020. 1 Nov - 4 Nov 2020, and then

November 2020 national lockdown
