Health and safety

  • Visitors are asked to respect the grounds at all times

  • Children should not be allowed to wander or play on or near memorials. Children must be accompanied by an adult

  • No dogs (with the exception of guide dogs) are allowed in the cemeteries

  • Only memorial masons that have registered with the council are allowed to work within the cemetery grounds

  • All new memorials must comply with the council’s rules and regulations

  • Headstones may be unstable and people entering a cemetery should proceed with care

  • All memorials are subject to regular safety inspections. Visitors are reminded that headstones should not be interfered with at any time and should be aware of potential danger

  • Persons entering cemeteries do so at their own risk. The council shall not be held responsible for any injury or damage, which may occur to any person or property within the cemetery, except in the case of personal injury where it is proved that the council has been negligent
