Seven new apprenticeships will be supported in Richmondshire thanks to grants from the District Council.
They are the first grants to be awarded from the authority’s Apprenticeship Wage Subsidy Scheme – which was launched in February. The companies have received grants of £2,000 and £3,000.
Apprenticeships include a Junior Content Producer at a Richmond on line retailing business, a Greenkeeper in Catterick, Marketing Apprentice at Jervaulx and a Care Co-ordinator in Leyburn.
Through the scheme, local businesses are able to apply for funding to support the costs of taking on a new apprentice with a grant towards their wages. Apprenticeships of Level 1-3 can secure a grant of £2,000, whilst businesses looking to appoint an apprentice on a Level 4 or above apprenticeship can apply for £3,000.
