UCI Road World Championships
In September 2019 the world’s best cyclists will come to Yorkshire for the UCI Road World Championships, the pinnacle event in the international road cycling calendar. The Championships will include a range of men’s and women’s races, across age groups from junior to elite, starting in different towns and cities throughout Yorkshire, and each finishing in the main competition town of Harrogate. It will be the first time that Britain has hosted the UCI Road World Championships since 1982 and Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI.
Richmondshire will have two races coming through our district. Firstly, we have the privilege of hosting the Junior Men’s Start in Richmond on Thursday 26 September, which will then follow the Tour de Yorkshire 2018 route through Catterick and Leyburn. Secondly, the Men’s Elite Race will enter our district on Sunday 29 September, taking a similar route to that of the Tour de France in 2014. Click on the link for more information on the route the races will take.
The race is expected to bring record breaking spectator numbers with a focus on international visitors and we want our businesses to take advantage of this.
We want our district to benefit as fully as possible from the races and to create a legacy of welcoming international visitors for years to come. To do this we are promoting all aspects of the district including our history, culture, attractions, market towns, food/drink producers, landscape; everything that makes Richmondshire a fantastic place to visit and stay.
We would welcome information on anything you are planning or offering during the UCI Road World Championships this year, including any events, promotions, cycle friendly options within your accommodation offer. Please email any details to email@example.com
