Roads and bridges

C106 - Grinton Moor

North Yorkshire County Council’s bridge engineers have designed a temporary structure and are moving equipment on site this week to replace the collapsed bridge on Grinton Moor on the C106 from Grinton towards Leyburn. The temporary replacement will enable the road to be reopened before the end of August, and enable the UCI Road World Championship race to take place on the publicised route in September.

Reconstruction work of a permanent structure will take place next year.

The county council plans to have a temporary bridge lifted into place on the B6270 which links the upper dale to Richmond. This will sit over the top of the damaged structure.

The council have also now repaired the B6270 road damaged by the landslip. The road has been re-opened to traffic late on Wednesday 14 August.

Road diversions

The county council will continue to monitor diversion routes, some of which are on very minor roads, to make sure they are safe and usable at all times.

Everyone is urged to drive with care and be patient in letting other vehicles pass safely.

Further details regarding road diversions and closures can be found on North Yorkshire County Council's website.

The county council is sending out gulley-cleaning machinery where needed to improve surface-water drainage from roads in Reeth, Grinton and Fremington.
