Household support funding
The Department for Work and Pensions gave North Yorkshire County Council £3.5 million in October 2021 to make sure those who were struggling, and feeling the financial pressures of paying their bills over the winter, got extra help.
Those people who were eligible received a Household Support Fund supermarket e-voucher payment of £275. To be eligible you needed to be receiving means-tested help to pay your council tax bill as of 21 March 2022 and have a child under the age of 19 living at home with you.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced in his Spring statement on 23 March 2022 that the Government will fund a new round of Household Support Funding.
We are currently working with North Yorkshire County Council on the details of the new scheme. Those eligible for the funding will be contacted by the Council.
Is there any other financial support available?
The rest of the money from the first round has been distributed among other funding pots in the county. This can be accessed by residents who may struggle to afford basic necessities. This includes the North Yorkshire Local Assistance Fund (NYLAF), Warm and Well in North Yorkshire and local food banks.
