Best Value Performance Plan 2007

Best Value

Best Value is part of the Government's drive to improve the services provided by local councils. It focuses on both the performance of the Council overall and the performance of specific services.

Each year the Council must publish an annual plan setting out performance against the objectives and targets it has set itself and also setting out objectives and targets for the future. It must also publish performance against a range of indicators set by the Department of Communities and Local Government. Our Best Value Performance Plan is also our Council Plan.
Councils must also review the way their services are working. They must:
  • Challenge why and how a service is being provided
  • Consult customers and others about what they think of the service
  • Compare how well a service is performing in comparison with others
  • Consider through Competition whether the services could be delivered in a better way.
