You can get
in touch in a variety of ways to let us know what you think
about Council services.
The Council consults on a range of issues throughout the
year, on a variety of topics such as new policies, planned
community projects and scrutiny reviews.
We also work closely with our strategic partners and
consult jointly through the 'Viewfinder' Residents'
Panel.

What is the Viewfinder Residents' Panel?
The public bodies in Richmondshire have joined forces with the
Local Strategic Partnership to create a single
Residents' Panel for the district.
The Local Strategic Partnership Viewfinder Panel is made up of
nearly 800 people representative of our district as a whole.
Partner organisations ask what the Panel think about public
services in Richmondshire, through questionnaires per year. Those
views will influence decisions about local services, help partners
to measure their services and improve the quality of life for
everyone living in Richmondshire.
The topics for this year's surveys derive from the 5
themes of the Community Strategy 2003 - 2018. The
themed surveys will be distributed in the following order this
year:

How do we use the results of consultation?
Partners are committed to keeping people informed about how
their views have made a difference.
In the past we did this through our 'Viewfinder Update'
newsletter

newsletter (Spring 06)
Viewfinder Update newsletter
(Winter 06)
More recently, we have incorporated survey feedback into
Partnership Matters, the twice yearly LSP
newsletter.
What were the results of consultation undertaken this year?
How can you get involved?
If you are a resident of Richmondshire you can be part of the
Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) Residents' Panel.
Service Advisory Panels
As part of our ongoing programme of consultation,
Richmondshire District Council also uses 'Service Advisory
Panels'.
These are way of generating feedback on, ideas for, and
challenges to a particular service provided by the District
Council. It typically consists of a group of around 10 people who
meet up to three times a year.
Service Advisory Panels can be used to
- test out proposals about changes to services
- identify potential improvements,
- give and receive feedback
