Profile 
 
Richmondshire is at the north western extremity of the Yorkshire and Humber region and covers 509 square miles.
 
Richmondshire is one of the most sparsely populated districts in the country- it is larger than four English Counties but has a population of just 47,010 living within its boundary.
 
Its boundaries stretch from the River Tees to Cumbria and contains two of the best known Yorkshire Dales- Swaledale and Wensleydale.
