Waste and Recycling

Hazardous Waste Collection

Changes to legislation mean that some household items are now classed as hazardous waste. These items include:

  • Televisions
  • Computer Monitors
  • Microwaves
  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Fridges
  • Freezers

If these items are being collected by the council as a bulky items collection then there is an additional charge. For more details please click here

Local residents may also take hazardous waste household items to one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres, operated by North Yorkshire County Council, at Gatherley Road, Brompton-on-Swale or Moor Road, Leyburn.
Private waste contractors will deal with hazardous and special waste arising from a trade or business.
