Set in a converted twelfth-century church, the museum's collection spans the 300 years of unbroken history of The Green Howards, one of Britains's oldest and most famous regiments. Artifacts and photographs from the Crimean War, the Boer War and the First World War form part of the vivid presentation of The Green Howards' story in both peace and war. There is also an audio guide and video presentations.

The Georgian Theatre Royal and Museum

A unique example of Georgian Theatre with the majority of its original features intact. Built in 1788 by actor/manager Samuel Butler, it formed part of a theatre circuit which included Ripon, Harrogate, Beverley, Kendal, Ulverston and Whitby.
The theatre was restored and reopened in 1963 and hosts a lively programme of plays and shows.
The museum houses a unique collection of playbills together with the oldest and largest complete set of Georgian scenery in Britain.

The Museum was opened in 1974 and is based in the old
Methodist school, built in 1836. It is tucked away just off
the Green down from teh Post Office shop. It is set amidst
the spectacular scenery of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale.
There are over 1,000 objects connected with living and working in
the Dales spanning over four centuries.
