Lighting - Public Lights
Richmondshire District Council owns and maintains in excess of 1500 Public Lighting Units situated at various locations throughout the District.
Fault Reporting and Attendance Service
If you wish to report a public light which is not working you can do this by contacting Richmondshire District Council customer services on 01748 829100 or by completing the form via the on line link below. You should provide as much information as possible to make sure the correct location and fault details can be passed to the maintenance contractor. Please provide:
- Lighting column number – if available
- Town/Parish or Village the light is situated in.
- Location of the Light.
- Road/Street name or footpath details
- Outside which property numbers or name. (Or any other recognised detail i.e. next to post box, telephone box etc.)
- Fault details.
- Light out
- Timing fault
- Any other information available.
Standards for Attendance to Faults
Standard faults such as lights out are to be attended to within 5 working days of the report.
Emergency faults such as lights knocked over are to be attended to within 4 hours of the report.
Other works such as street light replacements and those which involve the electricity supply are to be completed within 10 weeks of the report.
North Yorkshire County Council - Highway Lighting
North Yorkshire County Council is responsible for maintaining the majority of street lights in North Yorkshire, identifiable by a number painted in black on a yellow background on the lamp post.
