Council Gets Tough on Dog Fouling
It is an offence in accordance with the Dogs (Fouling of Land)
Act 1996 for a person in charge of a dog not to clear up after
their dog has fouled. This applies to land which is open to
the air and to which the public have access. A Fixed Penalty Notice
of £50 will be issued, and if this is not paid then the
person will be prosecuted, with a maximum fine of
£1,000.
The dog warden carries out patrols of the district, focussing on
areas where dog fouling is a particular problem.
If anyone wishes to report an offence of dog fouling, or notify the
Council of an area which is particularly badly affected, they
should contact Street Scene on 01748 829100 or email streetscene@richmondshire.gov.uk
