Garden Waste Collection Service

Skip main content Skip main content
A garden waste collection scheme is available to all properties in the district.  Residents should have a green wheeled bin for the collection of their garden waste.

What is this service?
A separate collection of garden waste from your home for composting every fortnight. Bins will be collected every fortnight all year round.

Where should I put my green bin?
Place your green bin at the kerbside before 7.30am on your scheduled collection day. Your bin should be placed at the closest point to the edge of the nearest main highway, in such a position that it does not cause an obstruction.  Bin handles should be facing towards the road.  For your week of collection please refer to the calendar delivered with your bin.

What happens if I have excess garden waste that does not fit in my bin?
Sometimes during growing season when hedges are being cut etc., extra garden waste is generated. The Council currently provides green compostable sacks for any excess and these are available on request at Community Offices or by telephoning 01748 828777.

What happens on Bank Holidays?
As with your normal refuse collection, if there is a Monday Bank Holiday in the week, all collections will be made a day later than normal and you should put your bin out accordingly. Collections for Good Friday will place as normal. You will be advsied of Collections over the Christmas period near the time. Revised Collection dates for 2012.
