Bulky Collection Service

Bulky items can be taken to one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres, operated by North Yorkshire County Council, at

The Richmond and Hambleton Furniture Store is a registered charity that will collect good quality furniture free of charge. The aim of the charity is to recycle and provide low cost furniture. They resell any donated furniture at low cost to people on low incomes. They can accept all types of furniture and large electrical items (not cookers or washing machines). If you want to donate beds / sofas / or soft furnishing items then they must also meet the relevant safety standards for foam filled furniture. Whilst we appreciate the generosity of people wishing to donate we are only able to accept furniture in good condition that would be able to be resold.

To arrange for a free collection please call 07801 591581 (when the store is closed you will be automatically transferred to Broadacres Housing Association who take the calls on our behalf)

The Richmond and Hambleton Furniture Store is located at: Brompton Road (adjacent to the Alpha Dental Centre), DL6 1DY

If the above free services do not meet your needs, the Council offers a chargeable collection service of bulky items from your home at £25.47 for up to five items and £32.89 for up to five items if one or more of the items is hazardous. Some household items such as fridges, T.V's and fluorescent tubes are classed as hazardous waste. To find out more about hazardous items please view the Hazardous Waste Collection pages.

To order a Bulky Waste Collection or for further information please contact us on 01748 828777.
