What is a Community Sports Network?
A Community Sports Network is an initiative developed by
Sports England to ensure that those involved in grass roots sport
and physical activity have a forum to meet and exchange ideas and
to shape the development of sporting opportunities in their
area.
What does this mean for Richmondshire?
Active Richmondshire is the CSN for the District. It
consists of a group of people who represent a wide range of sport
and physical activity in the District. Members of the board
include:
Colin Bailey - Sports Development Co-ordinator
Hilary Conway - Cultural Consortium
Emma Davis - Primary Care Trust
Iain Garth - Richmondshire Leisure Trust
Craig Nicholson - Colburn Health and Recreation Centre
Lynda Powell - Richmondshire District Council
Janet Reeve - Army Welfare Service
Richard Shuffleton - Yorebridge Sport, Askrigg
Ben Snook - Sports Development Co-ordinator
Phil Woodyer - Low Mill Outdoor Centre
What is the CSN's main objective?
To increase participation in physical activity by 1% year on
year. This will be achieved by widening access to
opportunities for sport and physical activity within the
District.
Investment Portfolio
At present the CSN is developing an investment portfolio for
the District. If you would like to submit an expressions of
interest please complete the attached form and send to Lynda
Powell, Culture and Community Wellbeing Officer, Richmondshire
District Council, Friars Wynd, Richmond, DL10 4RT or email to
l.powell@richmondshire.gov.uk.
The deadline for applications is 19 January 2007.
