"Public space is all around us, a vital part of everyday life.
The streets we pass through, the places where children play, or
where we encounter nature and wild life; the local parks in which
we enjoy sports, walk the dog and sit at lunchtime; or simply
somewhere quiet to get away for a moment from the bustle of a busy
daily life.In other words, public space is our open-space living
room, our outdoor leisure centre."
Chairman of CABE space 2004.
Come and enjoy our Green Flag Award winning park at Friary
Gardens for a pleasant relaxing visit.
Although the Richmondshire District is blessed with
magnificent landscapes, well maintained parks and open spaces are
of vital importance to the everyday life and well-being of local
people. They also have a bearing on how visitors view the area as a
place to live and work. Richmondshire District Council is committed
to safe-guarding and maintaining it's major assets, of which parks
and open spaces are a key element for their recreational, natural
and cultural qualities.
The local authority provides a high standard of horticultural
maintenance. Gardening teams regularly visit sites to ensure
that high standards are maintained at district and local
parks. Service standard information can be access via contacting
the unit below.
