The society was founded in 1922 and originally put on Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, but soon widened its repertoire to include all types of traditional and modern musicals.

The shows were held in the former Zetland cinema until 1993 when the venue changed to the Georgian Theatre Royal. The unique style and size of the Georgian Theatre provides a wonderful setting in which to perform
