All domestic properties are subject
to Council Tax. There is one bill per property, whether it is a
house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and
whether it is owned or rented. Each property is allocated to one of
eight bands A to H, according to what its market value was on 1
April 1991.
It is the responsibility of the
Listing Officer of the
Valuation Office Agency to give each
property a band. You can find out how your property has been
valued, what constitutes a 'dwelling' and about making
appeals by
visiting their website.
Listed below are the 8 possible
valuation bands and the range of their values.
