How is benefit paid

The amount of Housing and Council tax benefit you receive depends on the amount of money coming into your home, plus any savings you have. We will also look at the number and ages of the people living in your home.

If your Housing Benefit does not meet your rent in full you must ensure you pay your landlord any shortfall .

Council Tax Benefit will be credited to your account and you will be sent an adjusted bill.

Housing Benefit will be credited to your bank account every two weeks for the previous two weeks and you must ensure that you have given us your bank account details.

If you have asked us to pay your landlord we can credit their account or send a cheque to them every four weeks. Again we must have their bank account details if we are to pay them direct.

If you are a council tenant, the Housing benefit will be automatically credited to your rent account every fortnight.
