Local Plan 2012-2028: Core Strategy Adoption
The Richmondshire Local Plan 2012 – 2028: Core Strategy (the Core Strategy) was adopted by Richmondshire District Council on (9 December 2014). The Core Strategy provides the strategic development policies for that part of the district outside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Core Strategy was examined by an independent Inspector, with hearings held in February 2014. The Inspector’s report was received on 20 October 2014 and concluded that the Plan was ‘sound’, subject to a number of modifications. The modifications are listed in the Inspector’s report and the adopted Core Strategy incorporates the Inspector’s recommendations.

Any person who is aggrieved by the adoption of the Core Strategy may make an application to the High Court under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on the grounds that the document is not within the appropriate power and/or a procedural requirement has not been complied with. Any application to the High Court must be made and recorded as received not later than 27 January 2015.
Paper Copies of the adopted Local Plan Core Strategy; the Inspector’s report and the Sustainability Appraisal are available for inspection at the District Council’s main office at Mercury House, Station Rd, Richmond. The adopted Core Strategy and the Inspector’s report can be viewed at the community offices in Colburn, Leyburn, Hawes and Reeth; Catterick Hive and libraries at Richmond, Catterick Garrison, Colburn and Leyburn when open (see adoption statement for current times).
