Richmondshire District Council is committed to providing high quality, fair, efficient and effective services. You can help us to achieve these aims and to carry out service improvements by giving us some information about yourself when you submit any of the application forms below to the Council.

Application Forms

The new national application form (1-APP) has been compulsory from May 2008 onwards. We have replaced our own forms with the new ones and would encourage you to download one of the new forms from the list below for applications that you are submitting now. Our "old-style" forms can no longer be accepted for any application submitted after 6 May 2008.

If you prefer, you can submit your application electronically through The Planning Portal.

If you are printing one of the forms from the list below, please take care to ensure that you select the correct form for the works (or combination of works) which you are proposing. If the wrong form is submitted with your application, we will have to return it and ask you to submit the correct one for the type of development that you are proposing. Guidance Notes are provided with each type of application form to assist you in completing your application.

Supporting Information for Applications

New information requirements for the validation of planning and other applications were introduced by the Government from the beginning of April 2008. In partnership with other Authorities across North Yorkshire, Richmondshire District Council has produced and adopted its Validation Requirements. This document provides a "checklist" that you must refer to when submitting any application to identify the supporting information required to accompany your proposal. We will not be able to register your application as valid and start to process it until we have all the necessary information. We appreciate that this may require some additional work for many applicants and their agents at the outset of preparing and submitting a new application, but in return it will result in more efficient consideration and handling of applications, as well as reducing the need for details to be submitted at a later stage.

Applicants are strongly urged to consult the Validation Requirements document and, where appropriate, the separate Appendix covering Biodiversity and Geological Assessments before submitting any application.

We have also prepared individual "check-lists" for each of the main application types to assist in identifying the requirements for each proposal. These should be read in conjunction with the main document.
