Task & Finish groups are designed to look at priorities
which are not currently being delivered by any other group or
partner organisation. Currently the Hambleton & Richmondshire
Strategic Partnership have two task & Finish Groups looking at
priorities across both Hambleton and Richmondshire districts, these
are:
• Access to Broadband
• Winter Weather
Access to Broadband Task & Finish Group
It has been identified that Access to Broadband is a major
priority for both Richmondshire & Hambleton Districts,
therefore a Task & Finish Group was assembled in order to
provide a stronger/collective voice for
partners/organisations/local groups/residents in trying to obtain
funding to improve the access to not only the most rural parts of
the districts but town centres also.
Further work is also currently being progressed by the Task
& Finish Group alongside NYCC, NyNet and Community Internet
Service Providers to identify priority areas in each District to
receive Performance Reward Grant funding (approx. £100k per
District across North Yorkshire.) Interest in access to high speed
broadband has been expressed in Danby Wiske and discussions are
underway with local residents, LN Communications, the ‘Community
Broadband Champion’ and the Parish Council to consider the options
available.
An update on the work of the ‘Access to Broadband Task &
Finish Group’ was presented to the Hambleton and Richmondshire
Strategic Forum on 5 July 2011.To read the report presented at the

Winter Weather Task & Finish Group
The Hambleton & Richmondshire Strategic Forum has
established a
‘Winter Weather Task/Finish Group’ to address concerns expressed by
volunteer organisations over the dissemination of information
between those key partners responsible for the welfare of
vulnerable and elderly people during periods of severe weather.
Recent experience has demonstrated that the dissemination of
information, advice and guidance to vulnerable people is
inconsistent and that partners are unaware of the provision offered
both by statutory and voluntary organisations. It has been
suggested that a partnership approach will safeguard the welfare of
vulnerable at a local level and provide support for voluntary
organisations when demand for help is high.
A key priority for the Group is the distribution of accurate and
consistent information at a local level to individuals and key
partners alike. The group has been asked to compile and publish
guidance on emergency support available through statutory and
voluntary organisations (including snow clearance, shopping and the
collection of prescriptions) along with practical tips on how to
stay safe during the winter.
Membership

Recently the group have created 3 informational leaflets which
offer advice on clearing snow, provide emergency numbers and
information on how to be a 'good neighbour' in times of severe
weather. These leaflets can be found below:
