Colburn’s young at heart celebrated
Christmas early this year.
Members of the newly formed ‘Young at Heart’
group for the over 55s were treated to a four course lunch thanks
to the Colburn Community Grants Scheme. The same scheme
also funded a trip to York earlier in the year.
The lunch was prepared by District Councillor
Angela Dale; volunteer helpers, Ann-Marie Randle and Melanie Bell;
and Neighbourhood Development Worker, Andrea Willis. The 40 members
also danced to music provided by Alan Wake from the Colburn Tea
Dance and Saturday Dance and tested their general knowledge with
Kevin Moody acting as Quiz Master. Secret Santa was
provided by Jacqueline and Michael Ward and a raffle held with
prizes donated by local businesses in Colburn.
The Group’s next event is on Tuesday January
17 at 2pm in Colburn Village Hall, when Peter Fowler will give a
talk and slideshow on the history of Colburn and Catterick
Garrison.
