Yorkshire Day on 1 August
2009 will be packed full of events and activities at
Leyburn and Richmond Tourist Information Centres (TICs).
Tina Coates – Richmond
TIC Manager is working with local Richmond retailers on a
‘spot the intruder’ competition.
Participating retailers are displaying a poster and an ‘intruder’
object that they don’t usually sell in their shop windows.
Hopeful competition winners make a donation and feed back details
of the intruders they spot to Richmond TIC using special entry
forms that list retailers involved.
This year’s Yorkshire Day activity
donations are being collected in support of
Alzheimers
Competition entry forms and details of
other events and activities can be obtained via Richmond Tourist
Information Centre, Friary Gardens, Victoria Road RICHMOND North

Leyburn TIC’s 2009
activities will revolve around the launch on that day of the town’s
recently achieved ‘Walkers are Welcome’ (WaW)
status
Leyburn is very proud to have achieved
the’ WaW’ status through:
- Local support.
- Town Council & Business Association support.
- Well maintained rights of way.
- Marketing of ‘WaW’ status.
- Encouragement of walking using public transport.
- Mechanisms in place to maintain ‘WaW’ status
Leyburn TICs Yorkshire Day activities
include a special walk from the Centre that is being planned and
led by Diana Jolland. Starting from the TIC at 2.30pm,
this is a short walk that is scheduled to take approximately one
hour to complete. The walk will be free of charge with
donations and proceeds for the day collected in aid of
Martin House Children's Hospice Charity.
Other planned Yorkshire Day activities
include a ‘Drinks and Canapé’ evening costing £5 per head for
invited guests at the Dales Haven in Leyburn.
The 1 August WaW places are limited,
so anyone interested in joining in should call in to book your
