A hard hitting campaign designed to
help domestic abuse victims get help over the festive season has
been being launched.

Local people are being urged not to be ‘on the
receiving end’ of domestic abuse this Christmas.
The Hambleton and Richmondshire Community
Safety Partnership initiative will see posters bearing the words
‘On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love sent to me’;
‘Silent Night’ and ‘Ding Dong’ distributed across the two
districts.
They all carry the message that help is at
hand for anyone receiving domestic abuse this Christmas.
“With many people struggling financially this year tension is
already building,” said Partnership Domestic Abuse Co-Ordinator,
Wendy Hardy.
“Then as people spend more time together the pressure becomes
too much - and can be the flash point for abuse. But domestic
abuse is never acceptable and there is help out there if you need
it.”
And Sarah Hill, Director of Independent Domestic Abuse Services
(IDAS) added: “Christmas is meant to be a happy time for families
but for many living in our districts it will be a time of fear and
misery. I would urge anyone who is living with abuse to get
the help they need and deserve. Call us if you need support,
emergency accommodation or just some free, confidential
advice.”
