A new joint contact centre for
Hambleton and Richmondshire District Councils will open for
business in December.
It is part of the shared services programme
between the two authorities that has already released more than
£2.3m in cash savings since the venture started in 2009/10.
By joining the contact centres, staff at any
of the sites will be able to answer and deal with calls from either
council – making the service more streamlined and efficient.
To get staff ready for the switch,
intensive training is currently taking place – which will lead to
the closure of area offices for almost two hours every
week.
From November 1 to December 13
the offices in Easingwold, Stokesley, Reeth and Leyburn will be
shut every Tuesday from 8.45 - 11am. Richmond will be
closed from 8.45 – 10.30am and Northallerton although open will
have a reduced service. The centres in Hawes and
Colburn are unaffected.
The telephone service during this time will
also be limited – although all urgent calls will be dealt with.
