Richmond Pool is one of more than 580
venues across the UK taking part in a fund raising
swim.
Swimmers will be splashing for charity at the
Swimathon 2011 challenge next month.
They have been training for the 1.5k, 2.5k and
5k swims since the beginning of the year – many of them enjoying
reduced admission to the centre as a result of entering early!
Nationally up to 22,000 swimmers will raise
more than £2million for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Swimathon
Foundation during the weekend of April 8 – 10. Funds
will help support Marie Curie Nurses who provide free nursing care
to people with terminal cancer and other terminal illnesses in the
place of their choice.
“Swimathon is a fantastic event, bringing the
community together to raise funds for charity – as well as setting
the swimmers themselves personal challenges,” said Richmond Pool
Facilities Operations Manager, Dave Pullinger.
“We are expecting around 40 swimmers to take
part so Saturday April 9 is going to be a busy day!”
The Richmond swim takes place from 4.30 –
7pm.
Entries can be made until April 6 by logging
on to www.swimathon.org or calling 0845
3670 036.
