Richmond Swimming Pool rounded off the
summer holidays by hosting its first awards evening.

Twenty one young swimmers were presented with
certificates for water confidence, stroke and skill development and
personal achievement.
The awards evening has been established to
give parents a chance to celebrate their children’s
achievements.
“Richmond’s swimming scheme has been running
for many years,” said Austin Gordon, General Manager of
Richmondshire Leisure Trust.
“It has seen many great talents go through the
ranks – including Olympic bronze medallist and world record holder,
Joanne Jackson. The scheme is being redeveloped and this
presentation evening is one of the improvements we have
made. It gives both parents and children the chance to
celebrate the great sport of swimming.”
- The Richmond Swimming Pool swim scheme has
been running for over 30 years and has around 550 children taking
part in it each week.
