Residents Urged to Stay Warm
Richmondshire residents are being urged to
keep warm this winter – by taking up grants to boost their home
insulation.
Householders can save up to £150 on heating
bills by having the correct loft insulation – even topping up the
current level can save £45.
Throughout this month (October) homes in
Penhill, Swaledale, Lower Wensleydale, Middleham, Hornby Castle and
Bolton Castle have been targeted. They have been sent letters
detailing the grants scheme operated by Richmondshire District
Council in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust.
Qualifying homes will be eligible for the full
cost of loft and cavity wall insulation covered under the scheme –
other homes will be offered discounted rates.
“Although we have been targeting homes in
specific areas of the Dales all households in the district are
eligible to apply for this scheme,” said Council Leader, Councillor
Fleur Butler.
“Not only will having the right insulation
keep people warm this winter it will also save on fuel bills - and
it can be fitted relatively easily and quickly.”
