ALL of the hard work that goes into making Richmondshire a safer place will be showcased at an event this weekend.
Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership (RCSP) is holding a community awareness day on Saturday (June 28), so residents can find out what is being done to make their local neighbourhoods safer and stronger.
Dozens of representatives from partner organisations will be at the Catterick Village Sports Pavilion, from 10am to 3pm, to discuss everything from dog chipping to a new boxing club for youngsters.
Attendees will include North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, North Yorkshire County Council's trading standards and road safety teams and many more. Among the projects on display will be Richmondshire Off-road Cycling Initiative (ROCI), Richmondshire Area Motor Bike Project (RAMP) and the Joint Amateur Boxing Scheme (JABS).
The day was organised after the parishes of Tunstall and Catterick identified the need for this type of event, and worked with PC Carol Schofield and RCSP to make it happen.
RCSP chair Liz Smith said: "This is the perfect chance for residents to meet the men and women responsible for making Richmondshire as safe as it is. Whether you want to get more involved in community activities, or you simply want some advice on how to stay safe, there will be something for everyone!"
