One of Hambleton and Richmondshire’s
‘shared’ teams has won national recognition for its
work.

The District Council’s Procurement team was in
the top three in an awards scheme which recognises outstanding
achievement in procurement.
“More than ever before the public procurement
sector operates in a challenging economic environment with ever
increasing pressure to deliver not only value for money, but
customer satisfaction and environmentally sound solutions – and
compliance with ever increasing complex rules and regulations,”
said Richmondshire’s Deputy Leader, Councillor Mick Griffiths.
The Hambleton and Richmondshire team was
shortlisted for the achievements made in the last 12 months in the
National Society of Procurement Officers awards.
Award judges said that the team were worthy of
a top three place in the non-unitary category for excellence in
procurement - because:
· the team has
enhanced the profile of procurement
· the aims and
objectives for the team were clear and achieved
· Achieving
significant cost savings
· demonstrating
innovation
· demonstrating it
operates within the wider team - staff from other services/regional
procurements/suppliers/end customers
