A picture of Richmondshire’s talented
pool of artists is being painted!
The District Council is drawing up a database
of all professional and amateur – paid and unpaid –
artists.
Officers want to know how many artists there
are working and living in the district, what form of art they
practice and – importantly – what support they may need now and in
the future. It covers all art forms - visual, performing,
literature, sculpture, music and crafts.
“We are keen to recognise the wealth of
creative and artistic talent we have in the area,” said Jo-Anne
Simpson, Culture and Wellbeing Delivery Manager
“An ever increasing number of creative people
are choosing to live and work in the district because of its
uniqueness. But to be able to find ways to offer support to
them, we need to build up a picture of who they are and what art
form is being followed.”
Artists are being urged to register name,
location and art form on the database. They can also be added
to the council’s mailing list to receive updates and information on
work, training, selling opportunities and events.
