A district wide review of the 57
polling stations used in Richmondshire kicks off next
month.
The District Council is looking at all
polling places, polling districts and polling stations to make sure
that all electors have reasonable and practical facilities for
voting; and they are all fully accessible where possible, including
to the disabled.
And as part of the process – conducted in
accordance with the Review of Polling
Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations
2006 – local residents are being asked for comments on the stations
currently used and suggestions for other venues.
Members of political parties and anyone with a
particular interest or expertise in access and facilities for the
disabled are also being asked for their views.
And the Returning Officer will also be
consulted on proposed polling districts and polling places.
Details of the current arrangements and the
Returning Officer’s proposals will be available for inspection at
http://www.richmondshire.gov.uk/
and at the Council’s Community Offices in Richmond, Reeth, Hawes,
Leyburn and Colburn from September 12.
Comments can be sent to The Electoral
Registration Officer, Richmondshire District Council, Swale House,
Frenchgate, Richmond, DL10 4JE; or to electoral@richmondshire.gov.uk
All comments must be received by October
7.
