Thousands of Richmondshire
residents are going to the polls next week to elect district and
parish councillors.
District council elections for contested
seats in 20 of the 24 wards will take place and they are: -
- Barton, Bolton Castle, Brompton on Swale
and Scorton, Catterick, Colburn, Croft, Gilling West, Hawes and
High Abbotside, Hipswell, Leyburn,
Melsonby,
Middleton Tyas, Newsham With Eppleby, Penhill, Reeth and
Arkengarthdale, Richmond Central, Richmond East,
Richmond West, Scotton, Swaledale
There are only two parish council
elections taking place in Scotton and Skeeby.
A national referendum will also be taking
place on the same day. This is to decide whether to adopt the
Alternative Vote (AV) electoral system or remain with the First
Past the Post system for UK Parliamentary elections.
The district’s Polling Stations will be
open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday May 5.
Votes will be counted on Friday May 6 with
all results posted on http://www.richmondshire.gov.uk/
