Vital crime prevention advice is being handed
out with parking tickets in Richmondshire.
Four messages are being delivered as part of
an initiative to remind motorists of the need to be vigilant and
safe.
The campaign – led by the Hambleton and
Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership and North Yorkshire
County Council – sees every ticket bought in a car park machine in
and around Richmond bare advice on car theft, mobile phone use,
drink driving and motorbike safety.
They say:
- Don’t make it easy for thieves to rob your home and steal your
car - lock your car, secure your home and hide your keys
- Don’t be distracted by your mobile phone - It’s illegal to use
handheld phones even when stationary, you are four times more
likely to crash when using a mobile
- Drink Driving is not worth the risk - a conviction can lead to
higher insurance, relationship problems and job loss
- Think Bike …….think biker - motorcyclists are 50% more likely
to be killed or injured than car drivers
The messages will be on tickets issued until
May in car parks in Nuns Close, Victoria Road, North and South
Station Bank, Round Howe and York Square in Richmond as well as in
Hawes, Muker and Langthwaite.
