Eleven community projects in North
Richmondshire are to share a £10,080 windfall.
The North Richmondshire Area Partnership has
awarded grants to a wide range of projects – from building repairs
and new play equipment to the setting up a photographic competition
and creating a new website.
Five awards of £1,000 each were made to
village halls – to improve the access to Aldborough St John Village
Hall; undertake essential roof repairs and lighting improvements to
Newsham Village Hall; replace the inefficient heating system at
Dalton and Gayles Village Hall; insulate the roof at Barton Village
Hall; and extend the car park and refurbish exterior paintwork at
Gilling West Village Hall.
St Michaels and All Angels Church in Middleton
Tyas also receives £1000 for security work and there is £1000 for
St Andrews Church in Middleton Tyas for its adaptation to a place
of worship and a community facility.
Grants were also approved to Middleton Tyas
Parish Council for the creation and running of a parish council
website (£900); to Eppleby for new play equipment (£1000); to
provide a fully accessible entrance to the sports pavilion at
Barton Playing Field (£180) and for the setting up of a North
Richmondshire Photographic competition (£1000).
”This money is going to a range of groups to
benefit our local communities,” said Richmondshire District Council
Assistant Director, Colin Dales. “The money awarded ensures that
they can now carry on the good work they are already doing – be
that through provision in village halls or at playing fields.
All these facilities are vital hubs in our rural parishes.”
The partnership is one of five established by
Richmondshire District Council covering Central Richmondshire, the
Upper Dales, Catterick Garrison, North Richmondshire and Lower
Wensleydale.
They have been set up to address local needs
and issues and aim to involve communities in decisions affecting
them, identify priorities for the local area and deal with any
local concerns or issues residents may have.
Each Area Partnership has a dedicated pot of
money to spend on community and voluntary projects as well as
projects looking to address the partnership priorities.
