A new handbook is set to help
businesses in Hambleton and Richmondshire save money – by cutting
waste.
All businesses create waste -from office paper
and off-cuts of wood to plastic wrappers and unwanted food.
But the Business Waste handbook provides information on how to save
money by managing this waste better.
The handbook – created by Hambleton and Richmondshire District
Councils in partnership with Leeds City Council - provides specific
information and tips for offices and businesses involved in
catering, construction, retail, leisure and tourism, printing and
manufacturing.
It gives advice on reducing both the amount of waste created and
materials needing to be bought, reusing materials and recycling as
much as possible, as well as waste audits and a guide to
legislation. There is also a list of organisations which can
provide further information, guidance and funding to help
businesses make changes to reduce their waste disposal costs.
We are committed to making our two districts greener places,”
said Head of Waste Services for Hambleton and Richmondshire
District Councils, Eric Kendall.
“We want to show businesses that you can cut
down on waste being sent to landfill and save money – they need
practical advice and that’s exactly what we’re giving them.
Whether it’s help with recycling or just where to find more
information, it’s all in the handbook.”
The production of the handbook was funded through the Yorkshire and
Humber Improvement Efficiency Partnership as part of a project to
produce customised versions of the business waste handbook for the
21 local authorities in the region to use.
