Families in Catterick Garrison came out to play yesterday
(August 3) – to celebrate National Playday.
Coronation Park played host to a day packed
with activities – from face painting and sports to games and
inflatable fun. And youngsters were encouraged to try out the
newly refurbished play park funded by the National Playbuilder
programme.
Hambleton and Richmondshire District Council’s
helped celebrate the 24th National Playday by sending a
team of Play Rangers to the park.
They were joined by other partner
organisations to give out information on SureStart, the Youth
Service, the Community Safety Partnership, the Police and the Fire
Service.
The Play Ranger scheme is funded by the Big
Lottery Fund to deliver outreach play sessions to the most play
deprived children in Hambleton and Richmondshire. The
scheme promotes the need for children to experience challenging
play to ensure they are better equipped to manage risk and
challenge in their daily lives and is in its final year.
Over the summer holidays the team will also
visit Middleham, West Burton, Catterick Village, South Otterington,
Helperby and Brafferton and Great Smeaton. For more details
