Richmondshire Museum is getting ready
to open its doors for the 2011 season - but it needs more
help!
And its setting up a special volunteers
evening to celebrate all the people who keep the attraction ‘alive
and kicking’ – and to attract more people willing to lend a hand
both front of house and behind the scenes.
The museum will reopen April 1 after its five
month winter shutdown. Essential maintenance work has been
carried out to maintain and keep the collections up to date, school
visits have been hosted and items have been catalogued.
A major update of the Cruck House gallery is
also underway - which includes installing a section of upper
flooring. Thanks to a grant from Renaissance Yorkshire
lighting is being improved; and a state of the art electronic
display is being installed to help visitors explore and better
understand the 1950s chemist shop.
Anyone interested in being a volunteer should
contact the museum on 01748 825611 (Tuesdays and Thursdays); email
museumrichmond@yahoo.co.uk;
or pop along to the volunteers event at Richmond Town Hall on March
17 at 6.30pm
