Museum life was brought alive last
month courtesy of 80 primary schoolchildren.
The pupils - from Richmond Church of England
Primary School - spent a day at the historic Richmond Museum
enjoying a range of exciting activities. The museum’s
volunteers brought the past to life for the children and helped
them to understand the history of the town.
“The museum is keen to develop ways to work
with local schools and schoolchildren and has a range of resources
available both in the museum and to be loaned to schools to support
teachers in the national curriculum,” said Mike Wood, Richmond
Museum Chairman.
“We have also created a ‘loan box’ service for
schools unable to visit the museum which enables children and
teachers to bring the past into the classroom.”
Although the museum is closed over the winter
months to carry out refurbishment works, there will still be access
to temporary exhibitions and guided tours by
request.
It will reopen on April 1, 2011.
